New Year's Resolutions

I have many resolutions for 2011, and ironically my first resolution will be to blog every single day. It will help to unravel each and every day and to relieve stress.

others include:

Less swearing
eating healthier
going to the gym
save my money
save my money
Did I mention save my money?

Here's to a great year.

I'd rather blog than study

Such is the dilemma I face.

I probably should be studying for psychology right now.... buuuuuuuuuuuut why?

There are multiple things I can be doing and studying is not one of them.


So I will blog...


Today is the official last day of the semester. I have a psych test today, a Spanish final tomorrow (shit) and a Bio exam Saturday (ugh).


I lucked out on finals this semester since I only have 2...So i can't complain too much about it. But I'll still find a way to complain..


Well I have class..


This was a rather abrupt and pointless blog post. But usually they are never different...

The last Monday of semester

Where did this semester go? Honestly.

It seems like yesterday was the first day of classes in the hot sticky classrooms.
This semester just flew by...Hard to believe I only have 5 semesters of college left (graduating a year early).

This semester was pretty easy... nothing really too hard.

Next semester shouldn't be too bad. And then next fall semester I'll be in Spain! Yippee...

I just lost my train of thought...

It's a Thursday. Which means it is nearly Friday, which (not surprisingly) means it is the weekend.

It seems that I'm talking about how I need the weekend.
It's a vicious cycle.

Tomorrow is my birthday (yay)

19 years old.

I'm getting so old.. But not really..

Except I work all my birthday weekend. Of course.
And to my luck we have a mandatory host meeting at 9AM on Saturday. Just my typical luck huh?

My Spanish paper is my one last stressful project of this semester.
That paper is driving me crazy...

For about three hours already...I have about page and two lines on the second page.
Granted I write a couple of sentences and then blog, facebook, listen to music, and all that jazz, but it's hard writing in Spanish. When I'm sure I can even write that well in English.

Just 9 more days and then this semester is OVER.
And then a whole month off. Yay!

I really wish the UMD Study Abroad would finish my paperwork. 
I mean I know there are busy with other applications...but they just have to sign a piece of paper.
And what else are they doing?? It's their job to do this stuff right?


Anywhoo...


I have class in 25min...

And I should go pee beforehand

My laptop screen is really is obscenely dirty. and it bothers me, because no matter how many times I wipe it down...it gets dirty...


They should create laptop screens impervious to dust and crud.

I started tweetin' yesterday...and I can tell I'll be obsessed with that. Unfortunately.

So very productive study time.

I really don't want to go to Bio...

BUT! I only have four more classes after today...

So not too bad.

Well I'm once again on the bloggin' groove again. Third day in a row!

So... it is currently 10:59 on a Friday night, and I am in bed. Lame right?
But I have work tomorrow, and I need my beauty sleep to deal with people.


Anywhoo... Today was a typical Friday. Did I mention I am really not a fan of 8AM Spanish class? Ugh... thank goodness I only have (give me a second to count) 8 more classes! Whoop whoop! Somehow survived that class...


And I replace that 8AM class with philosophy of world religions at eight...But that should be a really cool class..so not too worried about it.


Speaking of next semester...I have four classes on Mondays. All in a row. Mondays are bad enough...We'll see how I'm able to handle that...


I'm currently registered for 18 credits. ahh....

I wish my blogs were eloquent and intelligent musings...
but they end up to be just a random list of thoughts that are merely passing from my brain into my typing fingers....that sounded poetic? not really...


My birthday is in 7 days. I'll be 19. When did I get so old?


Soon I'll be getting married and having children. Kidding mother...
That won't be happening until forever. Children are too much work...

Weren't is a really odd word...sounds funky. looks funky. So in my books it's an odd word.


I saw inception for the sixth time. I still love it.
Such a good fricken' movie.

Tuition sucks

I finally had a substantial amount of dinero in my back account...but then I had to pay the rest of my tuition.

Damn you 59.12 Lab fee.

I think that's like the 4th lab fee I had to pay...
Yay for nickel and diming us to death...

Only 10 days of the semester...thank the almighty God.

There's a showing of inception at UMD tonight. I'm excited to go.

It'll be the the fifth time I've seen that amazingly awesome movie.

December easily the best month ( I have a hard time spelling December)

1.) Birthday (which is in 9 days)

It's a Sunday (clever title)

It is currently 9:20 on Sunday night.

Any significance to 9:20? I can't think of any...

Anywhoo..

I doubled today at work. It was long, but good overall.

Tomorrow is Monday.

I have a meeting with my adviser to go over classes for next semester.
Crazy how second semester is startin'!! Time is flyin'!!

I have a massive headache.
Probably because I'm dehydrated.
Damn you water.

It's only a three day week this week.
AND THANKSGIVING.
That makes me very happy!

Anywhoo...my massive headache is killing me.

So time for rest.

What a night

We went to Harry Potter last night. It was the first midnight showing of a movie I've gone to.

And it was definitely worth it.

I wasn't too sure if it would be worth it because of the:

6 hour wait
really annoying high pitched girls
little sleep
and some crazy people in the theater.

But after the movie it was totally fricken worth it!

I would have skipped my Spanish class but just to my damn luck I had a quiz.

To let you know that class was so pointless. I can't even remember what we did in class, but I just know it was pointless.

But I did skip my biology class so that made up for it slightly. Only slightly.

I think that's all I really wanted to blog.
I haven't been very good about bloggin'.
But I'm not really sure if anyone is still even reading this..but if you are...thanks!

 

Hi my name is Ryan. (Hi Ryan). And I'm a facebook-aholic.

This is day one without Facebook. And I can tell it's going to be a long week.

I've decided to do the unthinkable-take a break from facebook for an entire week.

It's going to be hard.
Tough.
Not fun.
But necessary.

I find myself wasting too much time on that one single website. Nearly all of my history is just Facebook. That's a bad sign.

And what do I gain from my countless hours on being on that stupid website?

Well I can say I've seen more than a fair share of embarrassing pictures of people.
I've read funny, stupid, clever, and pointless statuses.
I have 599 "friends". Though I know all of my "friends" I probably only have serious conversations with 20 of that 599? That's about 1/3 of a percent.

I've had my facebook for nearly 4 years now. I spend at least one hour/day- and that's a conservative estimate.

So that's 365 hours/year. x 4 (need to pull the calculator out) 1460 hours. I've spent on that website. That's about 6o days I have just wasted of my precious life sitting on my ass. Doing absolutely nothing.

Time for a change.
What could I have done with those 1460 hours.

I could have:


Read a few more books.
Worked harder on school work.
Volunteered.
Walk my dog.
Made a difference.


Yet Facebook has this power me and power over my entire generation. Why?


Well idk... But I do know, it's time for a change.


A life with less facebook. Not without, but less.


Facebook does have it's advantages. It's easy to keep in touch with people you normally wouldn't be able to keep in touch.


But like with everything in life. I need to use it in moderation.


So here's to day one.


Is this week over?

8AM classes are the bane of my existence

I feel like I should blog. I haven't blogged for awhile.

So what's on my mind?

I really hate getting up for my 8 am class...it's such a pain in the ass.
Really. It's the worst thing.

AND! My alarm is not working...and it's only not working for the hour I need to get up. Just my luck.

My intro to college class was canceled...yet again. No surprise there.

I register for classes in two weeks... crazy


It's only Monday. I want it to be Friday.


I find it funny that all the time I'm awake, I complain about wanting more sleep.
Probably not the best thing.


I want it to snow. It is November. Time for snow, thanksgiving, and Christmas.


As you can tell, I have a lot of things are on my mind.


I'm reading the Girl who kicked the hornet's nest. It's kind of confusing. And not as epic like the first one in the trilogy.


I math tutor today.

Study rooms are not for studying, but for napping

Sorry Blog. It's been awhile.

I just woke up from a good 20 minute nap in a library study room.
Did I mention that I love naps? If I haven't...I do.

Moving on... It's Friday. Which means nearly the weekend. Which means nearly a good amount of sleep. And thankfully I don't have too much homework this weekend. Go me.

A much overdue post

It's November (already, I know crazy). And that tradition of reminiscing about each month..yeah...not working out. I've turned out to be really busy these last couple of weeks.

I am loosing my will to blog...right now.

Because I'm reading The girl who played with fire...

So when I finish that book, and the third one in the series...I'll get back to you.

And at the rate I'm reading the books, it will be pretty soon!

It currently is 8:01 on a Thursday night.

I had a Spanish test. And i whizzed through the grammar sections part of the test, but unfortunately that was only about a 1/4 of the material on the test. The rest was analysis of the literature we had read/reviewed. Which sucked, because I didn't study any of that the night before.

Oh well.. I'm not too worried about it, I guess. I did well enough on the first test, where I can do a little worse and it all evens out. I hope.

Anywhoo...

Tomorrow is Friday. Which means the weekend, which equals much needed sleep!

(And work...but that's just a given).

It's currently 8:12. And I think this blog is done.

What do you want to do before you die?

There are a lot of things I'd like to do..


Alright.. So I feel before I study for Spanish, I should blog to help clear my mind and help me concentrate when I'm studying.


Today, I feel really frustrated. I have no idea what I want to do with my life, and I am spending all of these thousands of dollars to to get an education for a future career.


I hate not being in control. And that's how I feel with this.


I've thought about many a many careers.

Clinical psychologist, teacher, speech pathologist...
I know I want to work with people.
I know I don't want to be stuck in a office for 40 hours a week.
So I know those two things.


But there are just many ways where I could go...
I'm not sure how much schooling I want to do after my undergraduate...and if I want to come a psychologist I'll need a lot of schooling. Not sure how I feel about that.


It's beyond frustrating and I can't even put the right emotion into this stupid blog.


What else on my mind?


There was a snow day for the public schools, and where I live, we got like an inch... really?
I bet van is ticked.


It's 6:27.


I am at Mount Royal listening to Glee before I start studying.


I miss a lot of people. More than I would like to.

Today is Monday-another start to a long week.

I have to write a literature analysis of a story we read in Spanish. I am not a big fan of writing these reviews of stories...it takes way too long to write 'em in spanish.
But I digress...

I started reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's really good...
I'm already on page 112.
It feels good to actually be reading for pleasure. I've missed it.

Next weekend is Halloween. I have to dress up for work. Any ideas?

I math tutor today. Yippee.
I mentor tomorrow. Yay.
I DON'T work on Wednesday. YES!!!!
I'm hanging out with Hanna on Thursday.

I have a biology exam tomorrow. yuk. But I'll be fine.

In my developmental psychology class we watched this video about the poorest city in the nation. It was really hard to watch.

The reporter asked this 4 year old what his dream was. And it was to live to be a teenager.

As hard as it was to watch, it's also very humbling. Knowing that I've been given so many opportunities thanks to my parent's choices. And that I could have easily been that child.

Lesson learned?
Take nothing for granted and help those most in need.

I just got out of a Biology lab. We used Mr. Potato heads to perform meiosis...
Interesting...

I don't think I ever had a potato head toy when I was a child... I was more into arts and crafts as a child...but that's another tangent and rant for another day.

Today is Wednesday! Which means Hump day!

Wednesdays are usually the longest- just because I work. So it's like 15 hour day.
Tomorrow I have a Spanish quiz on false cognates and the preterit vs. the imperfect.
Pretty interesting...I know.


This week is almost over..though! Which is nice, because I am looking forward to sleep this weekend.
I always say that...quite the vicious cycle.


What else to talk about...Oh I got paid today! Just enough to cover my stupid IPhone bill. But hey, another month paid for.


I just got a text.

I should be studying for my Bio exam (which is Friday). Great way to end a week huh?

I should be working on my dev. psych worksheet, but I am really not in the mood.

I worked all weekend, but that's ok, because I made a good amount of tips.

Oh I was in the library today, and some girl next to me had the nerve to eat her whole subway sandwich. And she didn't know how to chew with mouth closed. And then it smelled really bad up here.

Sorry for the two day lapse of not bloggin'.
Alright, here I go.

So today is Friday. Which means it's the (nearly) the weekend! Yay. Except it won't be much of a weekend, because I work at five today. And then I open on Saturday. So basically my weekend won't start until about three Saturday afternoon.
But that's ok. Because a weekend is a weekend nonetheless.

So anything interesting happen this week?
Not really.

Tuesday I volunteered/mentored my kid.
Wednesday I worked till about 11:30.
Thursday I had a Spanish quiz (which I got a 93) and I math tutored another kid.
And today is Friday. I only have to classes today. Which is really nice.

So any pressing matters on my mind?

Surprisingly not really.

Oh! I think I found my Study Abroad program I want to do. It's in Bilbao Spain, and I would be there for Fall Semester of 2011. So in a year's time I would have already been there for nearly two months!

They have an intensive language program there, so that's why I chose it.


So I guess that's pretty exciting...


Well I think that's it.

Well today...is Tuesday.
Nearly the middle of the week, which means nearly the end of the week.
That was a bit of a stretch... but hey. don't judge.


So what happened today...


I had school. Only two classes. Just Spanish and Developmental psych.
Both of 'em I enjoy. So that's good.


And I volunteered at nys (Neighborhood Youth Services) today.
I met with my kid, "Jeremy" and we did homework, and then we played dodgeball with the whole group. Successful day.


And I don't really have homework...I mean I could ALWAYS be reading...but really let's be honest here. That ain't happening.


I work tomorrow. Yuk.

Toasted Leg Syndrome

It's a Saturday (nearly Sunday). Shall we begin?

I was watching the news and doctors/scientists have come up with a new syndrome: Toasted leg syndrome. By the title it's pretty self explanatory, but apparently all of our legs are getting rather toasted because of us using our laptops-all the time. Pretty clever name, must have taken a lot of time to come up with that name. Just like restless leg syndrome. I wish I had the brains to come up with these titles.

Twins lost. Again. But I don't want to talk about that. Too painful.

I worked today. It was pretty uneventful. Except really busy. It got really annoying.

I have found I don't like people. Especially people who ask for booths when I seat them at a table. IT ANNOYS ME SO MUCH. It's like, what the hell? Do you eat a booth at your house? No. I didn't think so.

I understand that at a restaurant I am here to serve you, but really, just fricken sit where I seat you.

Anywhoo. Tangent of the night.

And I think that's all tonight....

Happy Friday. Blog number twenty. Let's begin.

Happy Friday. I like Fridays. I only have two classes. It's (nearly) the weekend. Which means I get to sleep in. Well not on Saturdays, because I'm cleaning bathrooms at 930. But Sunday I get to sleep in!

Anywhoo...What to blog about...

I got an 86 on that Psych. exam. I'm pretty happy with that.
I'm like 91.8 in the class right now. So can't complain about that either.

Spanish is going well. Except I have to write a poetry analysis on some poems. Which is quite ridiculous, because I can barely understand some English poetry, let alone Spanish poetry. But we'll see how that goes. I'll just be Bs'ing my way through that paper.

Biology is not really fun, but it's a pretty easy class. So far.

This week turned out to be a pretty long week, with the funeral and everything, but the week got progressively better. It's pretty hard to do anything worse then going to a funeral.

I am really hungry at the moment. I only had yogurt this morning. So that would explain why.

Did I mention that I fricken' hate the Yankees? No word in the English language can describe my hatred towards that team. They're all like 80. They need to retired. Especially Jeter the cheater.

I bought the first season of Glee two days ago. My life is complete.

I haven't had pop for three days. I'm proud. But today comes the real test, when I work. Because it's very easy to take a few swigs of pop while running back into the kitchen. But those few swigs turn into like 45 throughout the night.

I am really missing someone right now. (pretty vague right?)
And I'm sure they don't even know it.

Anywhoo...

I think that's all for today. I feel like I'm going to pass out if I don't get anything to eat.
